“Every day is better with chocolate, even Christmas.”
Every year for Christmas, I watch “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” (1970) with my sister. It’s kind of our Christmas tradition. In the movies, there’s a scene where Santa (St. Nicholas) leaves toys in the boys’ and girls’ stockings for the first time. They tackle their stockings down from over the fireplace and the following scene is one of joy and delight.
The movie shows us that before toys were put around a Christmas tree, they were first put in stockings. This tradition has changed over the years to stockings being filled with candy and little knick-knacks; and, of course, different cultures have their own corresponding protocol for filling stockings. At home, my mom tends to be the one who fills our stockings with our favorite sweets and goodies—and no, I’m not too old for that yet!
Have you forgotten about stuffing the stockings? Well, do not stress, for I have some near last-minute saves. As I look forward to what I’ll be surprised with in my stocking this year, I thought I would share some goodies that would be perfect to stuff your stocking with.
One of my favorites is chocolate and, of course, who doesn’t love chocolate?! I used to only be obsessed with milk cholate, but over the last couple of years, I have expanded my taste, which is great because RED Chocolate has an assortment of chocolate flavors to quench your chocolate craving.
RED Chocolate is perfect for chocolate lovers because it has 50% less calories and 30-40% less fat. No need to feel guilty with this sweet indulgence. RED chocolates are also Keto-friendly, do not have any added sugars (yay!), and has cocoa sourced from Ivory Coast. Their chocolates extend from extra dark chocolate to milk chocolate and include praline selections, orange and almond and hazelnut and macadamia.
For a while I have been into dark chocolate because it less fattening; so, I particularly enjoy the dark chocolate. Also, the square shapes that they come in are perfect for decorating the top of a cake.
Continuing with my chocolate obsession, there are many things that you can do with chocolate. If it can be put into cakes and cookies, it’s no surprise that we can expand our chocolate horizon’s with things like spicy chocolate and rose chocolate bars. To diversify your chocolate palette, give Sugar Plum’s new holiday chocolate bars a taste.
Their holiday taste pairings are just made for the holiday season. These include Divine Candy Cane, Peppermint Brownie, Peppermint Hot Cocoa and Peppermint Late Chocolate Bars. Did you catch pattern going there with names? If the holidays had a dessert icon, it might just be the candy cane. Peppermint flavors are the rage during the holiday season and these chocolates reimagine the holiday treat.
Chocolate has no limits. So, Sugar Plum also has treats like chocolate covered popcorn and chocolate covered chips for you to snack on this holiday season as well.
To top of a holiday chocolate indulgence, you might want to level up your chocolates with artisanal holiday confections from award-winning Delysia Chocolatier. You can sweeten your loved ones stockings with Santa collection chocolate truffles, winter collection chocolate truffles and advent calendar holiday chocolates.
Of course, you can always go all out and gift an entire box of festive chocolates. As a plus, it doesn’t matter where you are, this Texas-based chocolate company ships to all 50 states in the United States.
Now, you don’t have to limit yourself to candies and sweets for stocking stuffers. My mom likes to include things like lip balm and lip gloss. So, include perhaps a brand favorite or holiday wrapped lip collection.
Another small gift that is perfect for the year is also hand sanitizer. Tuck a little bottle away in their stocking. In fact, throw in a couple. Choose their favorite scent or get ones with pretty wrappings.
What will you put in your family and friends’ stockings? What are you hoping to find in your own? For me, I’m really hoping to find some dark chocolate truffles.
